Bodychecking in youth hockey: When is it safe to allow?

Coach opinion on it...
"The fact is that the vast majority of concussions, and hockey injuries overall, at all levels of play, are caused by legal bodychecking. As far as bodychecking is a part of ice hockey, a high rate of concussions will also be a part of hockey. The safest option is to eliminate body checking altogether from Youth Hockey."

What do you think?

The coach isn't happy...

Why... he is fried with us.. we partied a lot last night... remember yesterday we had a day off?.. so we decided to have this post-winning party just like any those infamous parties where there is food, loads of beer.. and ;)
anyways.. coming back to angry-Coach...
So we partied like there was no tomorrow... and we passed out!
Look we just had a day off... since we were physically and mentally stressed... NO chance of workout...
Since no one turned of for the practice session Coach is angry with this kind of irresponsibility!
Right now nothing cam make him happy..
God help us!

Coach's Advice to the Goalie works wonders in today's match

You remember we posted some advice on how to become the best NHL goalie out there?.. yeah thankfully our Goalie took the advice too seriously and become the star of the match! :)

Sometimes, its not only the hard-work but also somebody's coaching that helps you reach your goal...

On that not ciao people I'll be here tomorrow with yet another interesting experience to share with you!

Did you miss us?..

If not then somebody is gonna hurt some real bad! :P
So till now you must have become the best Goalie we have ever had! right!

Today lets give you some more insight... so that you are best in the universe!

Ice Hockey Goalies - Facts & Records

1) Goalie Great - The greatest goalie of all time... Patrick Roy holds the record for most career wins by a goalie in the NHL... now can you beat that?.. then probably you are the greatest goalie in the universe. On that note.. boys we have a task ahead of us! Winning 551 games during 21 seasons while playing for the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche isn't a joke!

2) Shooting Range - During the 2003-2004 season, goalie Roberto Luongo of the Florida Panthers faced 2474 shots and made 2303 shots - both NHL records.

3) Goalie Goals - Hextall became the first NHL goaltender to score a goal by shooting the puck into the opponent's empty net against the Boston Bruins, after the team pulled their goalie in the final minute of the game.

And we are back with some more facts!

Hockey Goalies... some of the NHL's Best! You ain't afford to miss this one!

1) Dominik Hasek, Ottawa Senators - Known for his acrobatic playing style and quick reflexes, Hasek has earned the nickname the Dominator for being the NHL's most dominating goalie over the past decade. Hasek has won the Vezina Trophy, as the NHL's top goalie, six times.

2) Roberto Luongo, Florida Panthers - Over the past three seasons, Roberto Luongo has faced more shots and made more saves than any other goalie. Playing on a crappy team hasn't helped his stats, but his big size and quickness make him one of the NHL's best keepers.

3) Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils - He's not the most spectacular goalie in the NHL, as he relies more on his positioning than reflexes to stop the pucks. Brodeur has been named the NHL's top goaltender twice and has won three Stanley Cups and an Olympic gold medal for Canada.

So.. lets continue our Practice sessions insight ;)

Except for stopping that *beep* puck into the net... A good goaltender in the NHL also needs to have quick reflexes, good concentration skills and be physically strong enough to take the punishment of both flying pucks and colliding with players.

And also most importantly a goalie also needs to have a strong puck-handling skills so they move the puck quickly to their teammates.

Practice sessions - A New Way Of Training And Coaching In The Hockey World

A good goalie can make all the difference in the world! And it's seriously not rocket science or its not that you have to some kind of super hero to be a hockey goalie, if you personally ask me!... just keep one rule in head.. stop that *beep* puck from going into the net.
